Open Formula
Have you ever overpaid for an item and then soon thereafter had buyer’s remorse?
The majority of the time I visit a big-box skincare company this happens to me. I get lured in by the strategic and lavish displays or ornate packaging and invariably end up overpaying for an item that underdelivers or costs too much to purchase on repeat.
I like to change my skincare routine often and keep my skin “guessing.” So when I was asked to review the products and services of the Chicago-based company, OpenFormula.com, the idea of a personal skin assessment by an esthetican (without having to visit my dermatologist’s office) and custom product recommendations was quite intriguing.
For a nominal fee, they offer a comprehensive skin assessment that contained relevant questions regarding lifestyle, diet, etc. The hand-selected items were shipped and received promptly. I received items that were tailored to my specific skincare concerns and target those specific things. If you have questions about the items, no problem. You are provided a detailed video regarding each product.
When the items were delivered there were no big boxes and no fancy packaging. Everything was streamlined and specific. The more I delve in to this company, this is one of the hallmarks. OpenFormula is a club where members get clinical skincare that costs $3-$5 per product. Why is the cost so low, you might ask? They develop products around 1-3 effective ingredients only, cut out the middle man, no fancy packaging, elaborate or colorful jars .... and NO markup. Memberships start at $8 per month when you join for a year.
I did a little research and the reviews were a resounding “yes” with 97% recommending to a friend and rating it a whopping 4.7 out of 5 stars.
